学長メッセージ「台湾東部を震源とする地震による被害へのお見舞いについて」/A Message from the President: Condolences to the areas and people affected by the earthquake that struck the eastern coast of Taiwan

 2024年4月3日に台湾東部で発生した地震により、甚大な被害が出ているとの報に接し、たいへん心を痛めています。お亡くなりになられた方々とそのご家族、ご関係者に謹んで哀悼の意を表するとともに、被害に遭われた皆様に、心よりお見舞い申し上げます。

 本学は、これまで研究者や学生、大学関係者等をはじめ台湾の皆様と、教育や研究等、さまざまな分野で交流を進めて参りました。また、台湾の皆様からは、東日本大震災はもとより本年の能登半島地震をはじめ本邦の災害の際にはいつも大きなご支援を賜っており、こころより感謝申し上げます。本学といたしましても国内外の関係機関と連携し、可能な限りの支援に尽力いたします。

 被災された方々の一日も早い回復と被災地の復旧・復興を心からお祈りいたしております。

I am deeply saddened to learn of the disastrous damages caused by the earthquake that struck the eastern coast of Taiwan on April 3, 2024. On behalf of Utsunomiya University, I would like to extend our deepest condolences to the victims and their families, and heartfelt sympathy to all those who have been affected.

Utsunomiya University has been committed to promoting exchanges with universities in Taiwan in various fields, such as education and research. Also, we are deeply grateful to the people of Taiwan for their unwavering and wholehearted assistance during times of disaster, including the Great East Japan Earthquake and the recent Noto Peninsula Earthquake. The university community stands with Taiwan during this difficult time and would like to provide the greatest possible assistance in collaboration with relevant organizations in Japan and abroad.

We sincerely hope for a swift recovery and restoration for the people and areas that have been affected.
